Multiple Tooth Replacement

“Multiple teeth should be replaced by dental implants as a gold standard treatment for every patient unless the clinical situation does not allow for this.”

Dental implants for the replacement of two or more teeth placed by one of our same day smiles™ dentists have several advantages over bridges and dentures:

  • They look, function and feel like real teeth because we use the highest quality materials
  • They are permanent, unlike dentures
  • They maintain your natural bone structure (bone loss is one of the problems with dentures and bridges)
  • They don’t feel loose or interfere with eating like a denture
  • Adjacent teeth need no preparation (which is required for bridges) ensuring that your natural tooth structure is maintained.
  • The aesthetic end result is second to none. At same day smiles™ we use the highest quality life like crowns which are indistinguishable from real teeth

What does the treatment involve?

Due to the vast experience that all same day smiles™ dentists have, the replacement of multiple teeth with tooth implants is a quick and painless procedure with minimal discomfort and rapid recovery.

The procedure for the replacement of multiple teeth will depend on the number of missing teeth and hence the number of implants required. For example, 2 implants can be used to support 2 or 3 missing teeth and 4-6 implants can be used to support an entire arch of teeth.

During your initial consultation your same day smiles™ dentist will tell you how many implants you will need, take any necessary x-rays, diagnostics and scans and give you a written treatment plan. During this consultation the surgeon will answer any questions that you may have.

On the day of your treatment titanium implants will be surgically placed within your jawbone in line with your treatment plan and these will be left to heal naturally for between 2-6 months. During this healing period you will be provided with a temporary bridge or denture. Once the implants have fully healed natural looking porcelain crowns or a multiple-unit porcelain bridge to match the adjacent teeth will be made by the same day smiles™ laboratory and fitted to the implants.

Why is it important to replace multiple missing teeth?

If you lose teeth you may not immediately notice the disadvantages, but as your remaining teeth begin to take the additional load and stress, this can weaken those teeth, cause long-term damage and effectively reduce their lifespan.

With multiple missing teeth bone loss becomes a bigger issue and implants can help to maintain the bone structure of your jaw. With bone loss and lack of support for facial structure, lips and cheeks, a sunken appearance and wrinkles develop which can lead to premature ageing.

If you are unfortunate enough to have lost all of your teeth you may be an ideal candidate for our All-on-4™ implant treatment. This technique enables the replacement of a full arch of missing teeth in one day at an affordable price.

Why is replacing multiple missing teeth with dental implants better than a bridge or a denture?

If you have a traditional bridge to replace missing teeth the bridge will need to be attached to teeth either side of the gap. These adjacent teeth are used as anchors and your dentist will have to prepare them, which not only damages healthy tooth structure but it also shortens their lifespan.

A denture is removable and often uncomfortable; if it becomes loose it can cause problems with speech and eating and have a major impact on your lifestyle. One of the most overlooked disadvantages of dentures is the social embarrassment of loose dentures slipping in public. Similar to bridges adjacent teeth are also prepared (damaged) to create room for the denture attachments.

With both a denture and a bridge, bone loss can cause future problems with the adjacent teeth moving as a result of this.

How much does it cost to replace multiple missing teeth?

The cost will depend on several factors, including how many teeth need replacing and the type of restoration used.
