Dental Implants: The Best Solution For Replacing Missing Teeth

In the UK, nearly 30 million people have one or more missing teeth – that’s almost half the population!

Research in 2010 showed that, on average, those aged over 65 were missing 4 teeth or more.

Many people become self-conscious or depressed as a result of losing teeth. Missing teeth don’t just affect the way you look; everyday tasks like speaking and eating can also become problematic.

There are a number of causes of tooth loss, including injuries, gum disease, tooth decay, and botched dental work such as root canal treatment. But in all cases, there is only one solution that will make you feel like you’ve got your real teeth back – dental implants.

Why Are Dental Implants the Best Option?

Compared with traditional alternatives, dental implants are a revolutionary solution for a number of reasons.

  • Unlike dentures, implants won’t move once in place. This eliminates discomfort and pain.
  • They prevent deterioration of your jawbone.
  • Your healthy teeth don’t need to be compromised.
  • Your speech will be improved.
  • You will be able to eat foods you may have had to avoid previously.
  • Your appearance will be improved; as well as restoring your smile, implants can also improve your overall facial structure, eliminating the sinking effect associated with missing teeth.
  • Before treatment, many patients are depressed or lacking in confidence. But with dental implants, your quality of life can be restored.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

Dental implants work by providing a replacement for natural tooth roots – they are the anchors onto which realistic prosthetic teeth are attached. These artificial roots, made from titanium, are fixed to the jawbone, and, in almost all cases, the implant fuses with the bone over time, making it a permanent, comfortable and fully functional solution for replacing missing teeth.

Fitting an implant involves making a small incision in the jaw, then inserting the titanium screw into the bone. This is a highly skilled procedure which can only be performed by dentists with the relevant training and expertise; we have some of the UK’s leading implant surgeons on our team.

What Are Same Day Dental Implants?

With traditional implant procedures, patients have to wait a few months between having their implants fitted and having their replacement teeth (crowns) attached.

But with the All on 4 technique, the implants are fitted and the crowns are attached on the same day.

We assess each patient individually to check whether they are a suitable candidate for same day treatment; X-Rays and/or CT scans are carried out to establish the condition of the jawbone before any surgery begins.

Same day treatment eliminates the need for any bone-grafting, making the treatment much quicker and far less invasive than traditional alternatives.
