Having suffered with horrific gum disease for many years I was eventually told that I would lose my teeth and that I would have to wear dentures.
This prospect horrified me! Having carried out some research I was fortunate to find Same Day Smiles. They seemed to offer the perfect solution for me. The staff were very helpful and understanding and helped allay any fears – it is not an easy decision to have your teeth removed! The dentists really looked after me and made the experience as pleasant as possible.
I can’t remember much of the actual All-on-4 procedure and although I had some swelling, I was ecstatic with the finish and they were not even the final teeth. Within a few days I had no pain and within a couple of weeks could eat most things. When I had the final set of teeth fitted, they felt so natural and looked fantastic.
I feel more confident, I really do smile more, without feeling the need to put my hand over my mouth. People actually notice and are very complimentary. I really couldn’t be happier with the outcome – I wish I had done this years ago!!!

It was a terrifying and painful procedure and I therefore grew up with a fear of a dental treatment which I thought was insurmountable. Visits to the dentist have been few and far between. Going into my teens, 20, 30s etc with a denture was shameful to such an extent that in company I would leave the room if the conversation turned to teeth, dentists or even adverts on the TV for products associated with teeth.
I always hoped that one day someone would invent something better than dentures and was interested when people started talking about implants. I had an x-ray of my upper jaw 10 years ago but was told that I did not have enough bone to take dental implants. When Gavin Laidlaw from the Same Day Smiles Lymm practice suggested the All-on-4 system to me last year I told him that I would love to pursue this but that I knew for me it wasn’t possible. He explained that dentistry had moved on considerably in the last 10 years and suggested that I have a scan as it may be possible for me to have zygomatic implants.
The professional, calm, gentle, compassionate treatment at Same Day Smiles by the team helped me recover my confidence in dentistry and I was happy to go ahead with the treatment. I received the most reassuring, helpful, supportive and considerate service by Kerry, the patient co-ordinator assigned to me. She was available to answer any questions that I had before and after the treatment, to the extent that she recognised my concerns and even gave me her home number in case I needed to talk to her over the weekend.
Although there is bruising and swelling after the treatment, at no point was there any actual pain which is quite remarkable. Any discomfort was dealt with by a course of pain killers that could be purchased over the counter at any chemist.
I am absolutely thrilled with the final results and would highly recommend the All-on-4 treatment to anyone who hates having dentures. It really does recover your confidence and self-esteem.
