Single Tooth Replacement

Single tooth replacement“Replacing a single tooth with a dental implant is the gold standard treatment that every patient should have.”

Dental implants placed by one of our same day smiles™ dentists have several advantages over bridges and dentures:

  • They look, function and feel like real teeth because we use the highest quality materials
  • They are permanent, unlike dentures
  • They maintain your natural bone structure (bone loss is one of the problems with dentures and bridges)
  • They don’t feel loose or interfere with eating like a denture
  • Adjacent teeth need no preparation (which is required for bridges) ensuring that your natural tooth structure is maintained
  • The aesthetic end result is second to none. At same day smiles™ we use the highest quality life like crowns which are indistinguishable from real teeth

Single Tooth Replacement (Before & After)

What does the treatment involve?

Due to the vast experience that same day smiles™ surgeons have, a single tooth implant is a quick and painless procedure with minimal discomfort and rapid recovery.

On the day of your treatment a titanium implant will be surgically placed within your jawbone and this will be left to heal naturally for between 2-6 months. During this healing period you will be provided with a temporary bridge or denture. Once the implant has fully healed a natural looking porcelain crown to match the adjacent teeth will be made by the same day smiles™ laboratory and fitted to the implant. The new implant and crown will look, feel and function like one of your own teeth.

How long do implants last?

This depends on how you look after it; with a good oral hygiene plan and regular visits to your dentist, there is no reason why your dental implant should not last a lifetime. The implants we use at same day smiles™ have stood the test of time and we use only the highest quality implants that have long-term clinical studies behind them.

Why is an implant better than a bridge or a denture?

If you have a bridge to replace a single tooth, the bridge will need to be attached to the adjacent teeth, which are used as anchors. Your dentist will have to cut into the adjacent teeth, which not only damages healthy tooth structure but it also shortens the lifespan of these teeth.

A denture is removable and often uncomfortable; if it becomes loose it can cause problems with speech and eating and have a major impact on your lifestyle. One of the most overlooked disadvantages of dentures is the social embarrassment of loose dentures slipping in public. Similar to bridges adjacent teeth are also prepared (damaged) to create room for the denture attachments.

With both a denture and a bridge, bone loss can cause future problems with the adjacent teeth moving as a result of this.

How much does it cost to replace a missing tooth?

The cost will depend on the individual clinical situation for each patient. At same day smiles™ we provide affordable implant dentistry of the highest standard. We never compromise on the quality of our materials and our surgeons are very experienced with extensive postgraduate training in this field.

Single tooth implants from same day smiles™ usually cost between £1,950 and £2,500. Get in touch with us to find out more about the treatment you require.
